Country Show
July 12, 2008
Saturday morning dawned windy and rather damp, but the Show, which has now become an annual event, was held in the
Neuadd Goffa and the newly acquired gazebo/marquee, so was unaffected by the weather. From 8.30 AM the Hall was filling with entries for the various classes, a summary of which can be
seen on the attached results sheet. Attractive displays were created in the Hall and the Snooker Room, which provided a home for Art, Craft and Children's classes. The judges, to whom
we offer our grateful thanks, were soon busy with their tasks.
This festive occasion was well supported. As the Hall filled with people, it was a pleasure to see that as well as our never
-failing loyal supporters we had many new faces in the crowd. Refreshments, stalls, competitions, the barbecue and the exhibition of entries kept everyone busy. To those who came and those who generously donated in money or in kind, thank
you. Our thanks also go to those who entered the various classes and to those whose work was admired by all visitors. The continued generosity of RAJ, Gwasg Ffrancon, is much appreciated.
Those who have not organised such an event will not realise the hard and detailed work involved. The contributions of Ilona Sewell, Barbara Roberts, Linda Owen and others named in the Garden Club report are much appreciated, as are the efforts of Linda Owen and Felicity Pollitt with the raffle. It is impossible to list everyone who helped to make this an event to be proud of, but without the help of so many volunteers it would not have taken place.
The day was rounded off by a cheese and wine evening and Quiz organised by Dave and Barbara Roberts. It was well supported and there was much scratching of heads as the questions were asked. Some of us realised that our knowledge of popular entertainment is sadly lacking!! Thanks to Dave and Barbara for a very enjoyable evening.
Together, the Country Show, the Quiz and the Sunday Concert raised a total of £1,838 for village projects. A great weekend!

Lleisiau'r Mynydd Concert
July 13, 2008
On the evening of Sunday, July 13th, a concert organised by members of Lleisiau'r Mynydd, was held in the Church of St Ann and St Mair.
The lively and enthusiastic singing of the children of Ysgol Bodfeurig opened the programme, and was much enjoyed by a packed audience, as was the choir's performance which followed. Sian's delicate airs on the harp concluded the first half.
A sketch 'The Letter' written, performed and directed by members of the choir, kept the audience amused. Two more
choir songs followed. Then the audience was invited to join in a 'Singalong', and participated in true village fashion.
Individual tributes were paid on the night, but to all those involved in any way with this venture, we thank you. We
particularly appreciate the support, which resulted in a packed church for this event.
The choir will reconvene on Wednesday, September 10th
Have a wonderful holiday!
